Thy Kingdom Come!

Dear Everest Parents,

What an amazing Catholic Schools Week we’ve had so far! From faith-filled moments to joyful celebrations, this week has been a beautiful reminder of the blessing of Catholic education and the incredible community we share.

Thank you to those who helped us kick off the week by attending and volunteering at WinterFest. A very special thank you to Fr Michael, Miss Reznicek, Mr. Landowski, readers and altar servers for a beautiful Mass. Thank you to the parents association, room ambassadors and other volunteers who helped give tours, paint faces, assist with crafts and cookie decorating, sell spirit wear, cook sausages and tend the bonfire. Thank you especially to those who brought friends and family to the Open House. Our guests truly felt welcomed by our school community.

On Monday, we celebrated community with the Cook County Sheriff’s office as our special guests at our morning assembly. Students loved meeting Thing 4, the puppy labrador in training, as well as the missing person demonstration with Sammi, a veteran bloodhound.

At Tuesday’s assembly, we kicked off our #EverybodyNeedsaLittleJesus campaign to spread the love of Jesus. All students received a little Jesus figurine to keep and one to share. Using the QR code on the attached card, we hope to see all the people and places where God’s love is shared. I am praying for all who will be touched by this #EverestSharesJesus campaign.

Wednesday, we celebrated our country and invited students to share their cultural backgrounds. Students tasted snacks from around the world during morning recess. At assembly, students were entertained by cultural performances by students from Lithuania, India, and Mexico. Our closing prayers were done in 13 different languages!

Yesterday we celebrated our teachers with a breakfast and luncheon. We also held our lower school Spelling Bee which was exhilarating to watch as it took several rounds in each grade to determine a winner. Kindergarten went 26 rounds! 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade contestants were spelling words well beyond their grade level! I am extremely proud of how our students exhibited grace in winning and losing. Congratulations to all who competed!

Today we are celebrating our students with a full day of sports and games. This morning, we began with 8:15am Mass, followed by the Science Fair awards ceremony and the middle school Spelling Bee.

Let’s finish the week strong by coming together for Pack the House Night—a spirited evening of basketball, fun, and school pride! Our theme is “Bright Lights for Everest Knights,” so grab your neon colors and get ready to glow crazy as we cheer on all of our teams playing at home! A special shout-out to our 8th graders—let’s make this a night for them to remember! Go Knights! 🏀💡✨

On a solemn note, I am saddened to inform you that the third-grade teacher, Mrs. Pavlopoulos, has resigned for personal reasons. We appreciate her hard work and dedication to our students over the past year and wish her well as she focuses on building her family. Please pray for her, as well as for our third-grade students and families as they transition.

Lastly, next week we have mandatory parent-teacher conferences. Please use the sign-up links in the newsletter. As in the fall, there will be no classes on Wednesday, February 5 for PK-8 students. Middle school students are required to attend with their parents. The second day for middle school conferences is Tuesday, February 11. Mr. Purpura and I are also available for conferences.

In Christ’s peace,

Candy Hamilton
