Thy Kingdom Come!

Dear Everest Parents,

This past week I and several teachers and staff had the privilege of attending the annual RC Education and Formation Summit that was held nearby at the Carmelite Spiritual Center in Darien. Not only did we hear excellent presentations from educational experts, but we also had the great opportunity to meet with other teachers and administrators from other RC schools to share best practices. Our talks and discussions touched on the importance of teacher-student relationships, virtue formation for social-emotional learning, as well as how our Catholic faith gives the why for what and how we teach and learn.

Next week we begin Lent! Please join us March 5th for Ash Wednesday Mass at 8:15am.What is Lent all about? Why do Christians receive ashes on Ash Wednesday? Why 40 days? Check out these short videos that help answer these questions:

Lastly, I’d like to share something that one of the speakers from our conference, Sr. John Dominic, OP said about the importance of virtue formation and social emotional learning: “We have to be intentional about what is the fertile soil that our children are growing in…We have learned that the brain grows best in the midst of love, connection, and hope.” As we enter into our last term of the year, let us pray for the graces we need for Everest to be a place where students experience love, connection, and hope – with God, with their teachers, and with each other.

In Christ’s peace,

Candy Hamilton
