Thy Kingdom Come!
Dear Everest Parents,
We have finally arrived at Holy Week! Hopefully, we have done well with our fasting, prayer, and almsgiving… and now we are ready to put our faith into action through Holy Week Missions!
Every year, our Everest community has the opportunity to experience Holy Week in a special way. Participating in Holy Week Missions can be a beautiful time for preparing your heart for the joy of Easter. Through moments of prayer and service, the hope is that all who participate will come to experience Christ in a new and powerful way.
To help us get into the passion, our 8th grade class has been preparing for their performance of the Living Stations which promises to provide a powerful way to put us into the greatest story ever told.
- April 15 | Tuesday evening 7pm
- April 16 | Wednesday afternoon 1pm
This coming Wednesday, April 16 students may come to school dressed out of uniform if they bring in one of the following as a donation to the Our Lady of the Angels Mission:
- meat/ fish in a can
- rice
- black/ pinto beans in a can
- pasta
- powdered grains in a box, e.g., flour, cake mix, pancake mix, corn muffin mix, etc.
The Holy Week Missions 2025 theme HOPE AWAKENS puts hope front and center in this Jubilee Year. Christ is the reason for our hope. This Holy Week, let us be filled with hope, let us be witnesses to hope, and let Christ send us forth to bring hope to others.
- Holy Thursday | Join Fr. Michael on the bus for a 7 Church Pilgrimage where we will accompany Christ in his passion after the Last Supper.
- Good Friday | All are invited to gather at Old St. Mary’s in downtown Chicago where we will collect prayer intentions from people we meet as we walk along Michigan Avenue and nail them to the cross.
- Holy Saturday | Let Christ’s love impel us! Serve with other families at Pacific Garden Mission, a homeless shelter to provide food service and housekeeping ministry.
As we begin the holiest week of the year, please join me in praying:
Lord Jesus,
As we enter Holy Week once again, I come before You with renewed love and gratitude. Open my heart to receive the special graces You offer during this sacred time.
I desire to walk through this week in union with You. May the mysteries of Your Passion, Death, and Resurrection continue to transform my life and deepen my faith. You love me with the fullness of Your Sacred Heart. Jesus, I trust in You.
I offer you all my prayers, works, joys and sufferings. Jesus, I love You.
Count on my prayers for you and your family!
In Christ’s peace,

- Middle school students participated in a Lenten retreat led by Fr. Robert DeCesare, LC. While Fr. Robert helped the boys to enter “Into the Passion”, alumnus Kate Beecher (Class of 2018) spoke to the girls about ways to use prayer, gratitude, creativity and relationships to deal with daily challenges and anxiety.
