Patriot Day: Remembering, Honoring, and Serving

Each year on September 11, we observe Patriot Day, a day dedicated to remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honoring the courage and sacrifice of the many first responders, military members, and ordinary citizens who came together during one of our nation’s darkest moments.

At Everest Academy, Patriot Day gives us an opportunity to do more than remember history. It reminds us of the kind of people we are called to become.

As a Catholic school, we teach our students that true leadership is rooted in service. The men and women we honor on Patriot Day demonstrated extraordinary courage, selflessness, and a willingness to put the needs of others before their own. These are virtues our students can practice every day—in their classrooms, on the playground, at home, and within our community.

Patriot Day also reminds us to be grateful for the freedoms and opportunities we have been given. We encourage our Knights to recognize that loving our country means more than displaying the American flag. It means respecting others, serving our communities, standing up for what is right, and being willing to help those in need.

Our Patriot Day observance at Everest is a time for reflection, prayer, and gratitude. Through prayer, we remember those who lost their lives and ask God to bless their families. We honor our first responders and military members who continue to protect and serve. Most importantly, we challenge our students to carry forward the spirit of courage and service that Patriot Day represents.

May our Knights always remember that even small acts of kindness, courage, and service can make a difference. In remembering the past, we can help build a future filled with faith, hope, compassion, and love.

We remember. We honor. We serve.
