When Jesus was asked which commandment was the greatest, He gave a simple yet life-changing answer: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind… and you shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22:37–39)
At the heart of our faith lies this beautiful command — to love our neighbor. It’s easy to say, but often challenging to live out. Loving our neighbor means seeing Christ in every person we meet: in the classmate who needs a friend, the colleague who is struggling, the family member who tests our patience, and even the stranger who crosses our path.
At Everest Academy, we teach our students that love of neighbor is more than a feeling — it’s a choice. It shows up in small acts of kindness, respect, and generosity. It’s holding the door open, including someone new at lunch, sharing a smile, offering forgiveness, or standing up for what is right. Every act of love, no matter how small, strengthens our community and brings us closer to living as true disciples of Christ.
This virtue also reminds us of our shared humanity. In a world that often emphasizes differences, Jesus calls us to unity — to love without limits, to forgive without counting, and to serve without expecting anything in return. It’s in these everyday moments that holiness grows quietly and steadily.
When we love our neighbor, we build the Kingdom of God right here in our midst. It’s how we transform our homes, classrooms, and communities into places of peace, joy, and compassion.
So today, let’s ask ourselves: How can I love my neighbor better? Maybe it’s through listening more patiently, reaching out to someone in need, or choosing kindness when it’s not easy. Every act of love brings light into the world — and that’s exactly what our world needs most.
