Everest Academy in Lemont, Illinois, is celebrating the advancement of five exceptional students to the Illinois Junior Academy of Science (IJAS) State Science Fair. Francesca Abbinanti, Vera Lambert, Nik, Augie, and Elisabeth have demonstrated outstanding scientific acumen, earning them the opportunity to present their research at the state level.
The IJAS State Science Fair is scheduled for May 2-3, 2025, at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus. This annual event brings together young scientists from across the state to showcase their innovative projects and compete for top honors.
The students’ journey to the state fair began with their participation in regional competitions, where their projects stood out for creativity, rigor, and relevance. Their success is a testament to their hard work and dedication.
Instrumental in guiding these students has been their science teacher, Mrs. Lindsay Kmetty. Serving as the Middle School Math and Science Instructor at Everest Academy, Mrs. Kmetty’s mentorship has been pivotal in nurturing the students’ scientific curiosity and research skills. The academy community has expressed profound gratitude for her unwavering support throughout the students’ preparation.
As these young scholars prepare for the upcoming state competition, the entire Everest Academy community stands behind them, celebrating their achievements and wishing them continued success.
