Congrats, Shane!
Shane Bruin, Everest Academy alumnus (Class of 2021), has earned one of the most coveted honors in the caddie world: the Chick Evans Scholarship. This four-year, full-tuition scholarship is awarded to exceptional caddies who excel in four key areas: outstanding grades, a strong caddie record, impeccable character, and financial need. Bruin’s impressive record as a caddie, combined with his academic achievements, have made him a standout recipient.
A dedicated caddie since 2021, Bruin has worked at Edgewood Valley Country Club in LaGrange, Illinois earning the title of Honor Caddie, a role that recognizes the top caddies for their dedication, professionalism, and skill. Bruin’s strong work ethic, paired with his commitment to his studies, has earned him respect within both his school and his caddie community.
Currently a senior at Providence Catholic High School in New Lenox, Illinois (Class of 2025), Bruin has consistently demonstrated academic excellence and is highly regarded for his character and leadership qualities. As he prepares for graduation, Bruin has set his sights on pursuing studies in Physical Therapy and Business—a combination of fields that reflects both his passion for helping others and his ambition in the business world.
In the fall of 2025, Bruin plans to attend one of three universities: the University of Iowa, Marquette University, or the University of Kansas. Each of these institutions will offer him the opportunity to continue his academic journey while also taking advantage of the full Chick Evans Scholarship, which covers not only tuition but also housing and other educational expenses.
The Chick Evans Scholarship is a highly selective program that has supported the education of thousands of students since its inception. With his impressive combination of academic excellence, strong work ethic, and financial need, Bruin is poised to make the most of this incredible opportunity.
“Everest Academy taught me perseverance and hard work which set me up for success in high school. It also prepared me to pursue my goals, one of which was earning the Evans Scholarship.”- Shane Bruin
Bruin’s story serves as an inspiration to other young caddies, demonstrating the impact of hard work and dedication both on and off the golf course. As he looks ahead to college and beyond, Bruin is excited to take the next step in his academic and professional journey, confident that the Chick Evans Scholarship will help him achieve his goals.
